"Oh, I agree, very interesting," Maecenas chuckles. He still doesn't know why Octavian thinks this is a good idea, but as long as he can stay out of the public eye himself it ought to work. He can write some beautiful, rousing speeches - they just lose their impact if people know they're coming from someone like him. No, clean cut, wholesome Octavian, with his charisma and leadership abilities, that's who the people want to hear - Maecenas is just the one putting words into his mouth. Or rather, putting his ideas into words that sway people into agreeing with him.
